Construction of a textile base in Shantou

In order to modernize and develop the local textile and garment industry, construction of a textile base has begun in the Chaoyang district of Shantou, Guangdong province.
The facility is planned to cover an area of 333.33 hectares, with the entire investment amounting to 30.5 billion yuan ($4.2 billion).

➡ The textile base will consist of a manufacturing park and a global procurement center. The project aims to create a modern industrial center, integrating research, technology development, production, exhibitions, sales and smart logistics.
➡ The textile and garment industry is one of the main pillars of industry in Shantou. It is the most complete industrial chain, with a production value exceeding 100 billion yuan.
➡ Interestingly, the city currently has only one enterprise engaged in the production of nylon materials, with a production capacity of 17,000 metric tons. There are plans to increase the production of nylon materials in the next two years to 400,000 metric tons, through the establishment of 4-5 new companies of this type.

Once the construction process is completed, the Chaoyang textile base will be one of the largest textile parks in China and a major commercial center for global textile production and sales, thus creating a textile industry cluster with a complete industrial chain and a large professional market from Shantou.
The revival of the textile industry, China’s focus on technology development and increasing production capacity, means in practice that material imports from China will become even more advantageous than before – thanks to extensive research, we can expect technological innovations, and thanks to increased production capacity, shorter lead times and better prices.
