Harbin – Ice City

The city of ice and snow – Harbin – has become one of the most popular tourist destinations during the winter season in China!
China’s fairytale land of ice welcomed more than 90 million visitors during the 2024-2025 winter season.

The 41st International Ice and Snow Festival, which kicked off on January 5, and Harbin Ice-Snow World, which this year attracted a record 3.56 million visitors during 68 days of operation, were extremely popular. It’s as if 10% of the Polish people went to one event lasting 2 months.
In particular, the number of international tourists increased – by as much as 94% compared to the previous winter season. Unfortunately, we do not have statistics on how many Poles visited the place.
The IX Asian Winter Games, which we will write about in another post, also played a big role in the increase in tourism
Winter in Harbin is very harsh – the average temperature is about -17°C. The cold weather is made up for by spectacular ice buildings, winter alleys and mystical illuminations. It is also a place of ski resorts – you can write Chinese Zakopane.

Would you take a trip to the ice kingdom?
