New consolidation hub opens in Shenyang!
On March 4, a new consolidation hub for freight trains on the China-Europe route was put into operation. This is the sixth hub of its kind on the Silk Road.
➡ The new logistics hub is located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, located in the northeastern part of China.
➡ The total area of the hub is 92,000 square meters, of which 80,000 square meters are under customs supervision. The facility is capable of accommodating 3,000 TEUs at a time. Moreover, it is estimated that the hub will be able to handle up to 1,000 trains per year.
There is no doubt that the opening of the new hub will greatly improve rail transportation between China and Europe, and contribute to the development of freight trains.
It is also a solid base for the creation of an international logistics hub, connecting Shenyang with the seaports of Yingkou and Dalian in Liaoning.
Time will tell what real impact this will have on freight rates and delivery times.
